Who is Team TOM ? ( The Old Manor Stables )

​

Team Tom is made up of Craig McClelland, his partner Alexander Osborn and their amazing support team that they could not do without and not forgetting their menagerie of animals that live with  them at The Old Manor.

While Craig over sees the day to day running of the yard, managing the show diary and fitting in  as many hunting days as he possibly can; Alex spends his time focusing on his Art and property business in London and the home counties while being a regular successful competitor on the Show Circuit.

A brief history of the journey to The Old  Manor ....

​

Craig started riding at the age of 11 with sights set on becoming a jockey Craig rode regularly at local stables. Unfortunately he grew too much to follow this ambition and took a different path, he studied Equine Science at Brighton University with views on a different career with horses.

​

Things took a different path and Craig joined Britannia Airways where he flew as cabin crew for 8 years, travelling the world. A stint at a 5* central London hotel and latterly taking over his family run business of a farm shop.

 

During his working life Craig has always had his own horses and pursued his passion for hunting , always managing to follow hounds twice a week during the season, he served as Hon Secretary and latterly 3 seasons as Master. Alongside hunting Craig has great enthusiasm for showing, particularly hunters and cobs. He can be seen regularly stewarding at shows and also sits on the judging panel for SHB (GB)

Alexander started his career at 16 working for Freddie Welsh and thanks to Freddie's stern eye and impeccable training, Alexander quickly honed his riding skills earning himself a place on the English Show Jumping team achieving Gold, a definite high point. He followed the show circuit for the next 7 years competing in the much loved Vauxhall Young Riders Championships, hitting highs at HOYS on more than one occasion in the Newcomers Final.

During this time Alexander enjoyed a very successful modeling career with a top London agent appearing in countless magazines, television commercials and a certain soap opera amongst many things. At the age of 23 he took up a behind the camera seat working for some of the countries top fashion and celebrity magazines as a stylist. This led him to a career in television working on some of ITV's top evening shows. The path into TV producing led him all over the world , working in the USA, New Zealand, Australia and France where he eventually settled renovating a stunning 18c Chateau in Normandy.

On returning from France Alexander set up Prestwood Competition Stables in West Sussex, a 5 star training and livery stables. After 6 fantastic years he was ready for a new challenge and looked forward to using his skills and expertise to add to the Golden Cross experience !

6 years on from taking over the reins of Golden Cross Equestrian, an established show venue and 5 star Training and competition stables located in East Sussex, Alex and his loyal team look back at their journey with absolute pride and happiness.
In his own words ....
" The last 6 years has been an absolute joy. Yes of course it has been literally back breaking, the work involved getting Golden Cross to a point where we were happy with it but it truly has been a journey that we will never forget. Most of all its been the people. Our clients, colleagues and friends have been our main drive and without them we could have not done it. It honestly has been one of the most fantastic experiences of our lives and for that we are all extremely grateful."

But now  Craig & Alexander are ready for a new challenge and The Old Manor Stables in Worcester was exactly what they were looking for. An exquisite 18th century Country Manor House, cottages and stable yard with stunning equestrian facilities set within 30 acres of park land and formal gardens.
Alexander, a recent Hoys Show Cob finalist and his partner Craig, a former Hunt Master bring their love, knowledge of horses and countryside pursuits to The Old Manor encapsulating Showing, Hunting and Show Jumping along with their passion for history and antiques.
